| Reverse osmosis, or rather the natural process of osmosis, will create diffusion across the membrane when standing still. This means that impurities will move to the pure water side of the membrane, and thus a less than perfectly pure water will come out when operated. This first amount of permeate (purified water) is diverted by a special valve in the model RO 400CV. Only the highest level of purity will be for consumption. With this and all other RO 400 models, the purity level is constantly monitored and displayed.
